A New Year, 2009

Well it’s been almost a month since I have last blogged. It has been Christmas and I have been extremely busy with work and family. Unfortunately they both come first. I have also not been feeling well for the past two weeks. I have had very little time to do any photography but managed to get photos of the birds in our back yard.

Not great photos has it has been dark with clouds and snow. They are good enough however for me to identify the birds that include Black-capped Chickadees, Hammond’s Flycatcher, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Red-Winged Blackbirds, Brewer’s Blackbirds, Brown-headed Cowbirds, House Finches, a Male Spotted Towhee, Northern Flickers, Northern Rough-winged Swallows, Winter Wrens, European Starlings, Oregon and Gray-headed Juncos and a slew of different Sparrows including American Tree Sparrows, Chipping Sparrows, Song Sparrows, White-crowned Sparrows, and very common House Sparrows.

We now have all these in our backyard thanks to my sister-in-law that has taken to feeding these wonderful birds. Our cat watches them from the window all day.

In the last few weeks I have managed to hammer out a path for this blog to follow in my earlier promises to teach Photography Skills. A plan is now in place and I will soon be posting the continuing articles.

Christmas has gone by and I hope that everyone has had a great Holiday. For me it has brought several new photography items including a new Photographers Vest, a second Flash Unit, Canon Speedlite 430EX II and a Canon STE2 Speedlite Transmitter. I will be posting reviews of these in the future.

Along with Ansel Adams “400 Photographs” book I also received the Sony eBook Reader. I had seen this great product at CES three years ago and loved the idea but never knew how great it was until I spent a whole evening reading a book with it. Wow, what a great product. The Reader will be my first review for the year and should be posted soon.

In the past month people have e-mailed me and asked about two things. One has been links to my favorite resources for products and services and two has been Anti Virus Product recommendations. These will make up my next two blogs.

Glad to be feeling better and blogging again. My New Year’s resolution has been to try to get out more often to do Photography. More early morning starts and more bad weather shooting if required!
