artShots 2009

artShots is a one month long art photography exhibition and symposium. The juried photo competition lasts for the whole month and images are displayed at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre from November 2nd to November 27th, 2009. The official opening and awards presentation is on November 7th.

The symposium also includes two weeks of workshops, demonstrations, classes, digital slide shows and guest speakers. It is a great opportunity for aspiring photographers to learn from others. And who knows, perhaps even win some money along the way if you enter your images.

I was a guest speaker last year and had a great time. This year I was asked to create a Web Site for artShots and decided to help. This is a screen shot of the site I created for them. The main page is up now at www.artshots2009.com and I will hopefully finish the site in the next two weeks. There will be updates until the show begins as workshop, demonstration and guest speaker schedules are worked out.

The site was created in Adobe Photoshop CS4 and exported as HTML into Microsoft Expression Web 2. All images used in the site at this time are my own.

The artShots logo is their existing logo that that I extended the background on the right and I added some drop shadows to stylize it just a bit. The drop shadows also added a little depth to the logo.

The exhibition is in its fifth year and every year they are trying to make it better. To show the "history" and "Future" of the show I added the "Year Wheel".

I am now awaiting on some content for the site so that I can finish the other pages. As much as I enjoy doing this work, I do prefer just getting out and doing the photography.

Please check out artShots and please think about submitting some images. The entry form is available on-line. artShots is also looking for Sponsors and if you or your company are interested, please contact me or artShots (their contact information should be up soon).
